Digit & Limb Prostheses |
The Anaplastology Clinic specializes in highly realistic and functional prostheses for the finger(s), hand(s) and toe(s). Wrinkles, skin pores, and other fine details are sculpted into the prosthesis so that the margins blend into the patient's remaining anatomy. During coloring sessions with the patient, our anaplastologist meticulously adds color in layers to mimic the appearance of the patient's own skin. This level of realism helps patients gain self-confidence during social interactions and can have a significant impact on their rehabilitation.
Prosthetic retention for upper extremity prostheses can vary widely, depending on the type of prosthesis being fabricated and the unique anatomy and needs of the patient.
Suction retention involves a total contact fit and the creation of negative pressure over the end of the residual finger or toe. A prosthetic design may also incorporate an anatomical fit, such as a 'slip on' foot prosthesis. Regardless of the type of retention, our prostheses are created to fit comfortably and securely to the patient.
