Implant Retained

Refer a Patient
Although adhesives are a well established and common way to attach a prosthesis which serve many patients reliably, adhesives can become less reliable during extreme temperatures and do require careful daily cleaning.

Implant-retained devices offer excellent retention and longer prosthesis life, but require outpatient surgery.
An implant retained device involves the surgical placement of titanium implants into the patient’s bone, which serve as an anchor for the prosthesis.  The prosthesis attaches to titanium abutments either by a custom gold bar and clip system or by strong prosthetic magnets which are easily applied and removed.

Optimal results for implant retention require close collaboration between the surgeon and our Clinic, particularly in regards to determination of implant position and angle in order to ensure implant placement that compliments the aesthetic contours of a prosthesis.  Other considerations could include specific issues such as accumulated radiation exposure, tissue tags, grafts and impressions before resection.

A surgical template is custom made by the anaplastologist in order to facilitate implant placement and, in some cases, the anaplastologist will virtually place the implants with the physician during a digital treatment planning session.
